Portocristo

Porto Cristo grew up where a long, narrow inlet reaches the sea, and that inlet still shapes the town: a working harbour, a calm town beach at its head and streets that climb the slopes on either side. It is the coast of Manacor, fifteen minutes from the town, and unlike many resorts it keeps a settled local population through the winter.

The harbour and the water

Small fishing boats and yachts share the protected water of the inlet, and the sandy town beach at its head is among the gentlest on the east coast — a reason families settle here. A promenade of cafés and restaurants runs along the quay, and the daily errands are all in town, with Manacor close by for anything larger.

On the edge of Porto Cristo are the Coves del Drac and the Coves dels Hams, two of the best-known show caves on the island, and a working aquarium — the kind of everyday attractions that keep a place lively out of season too.

Living here

Homes range from townhouses and apartments near the harbour to villas on the higher ground, many of them looking out over the inlet or the open sea. To the south, the coves of Cala Anguila and Cala Mendia are a few minutes away; to the north the coast runs on towards S’Illot. It suits buyers who want a real town by the water rather than a summer-only address.

Why people choose Portocristo

  1. A calm town beach

Sheltered, sandy and walkable from most of the town.

  2. The caves

Coves del Drac and Coves dels Hams on the edge of town.

  3. Year-round life

A settled community, not a place that closes in October.
