Cala Romántica

Cala Romántica — its old name is S’Estany d’en Mas — is a small, mostly residential resort on the Manacor coast, a few minutes south of Porto Cristo. It is arranged around a sheltered sandy cove, with low-rise homes on the gentle slopes above and pine and rock along the shore on either side.

Around the cove

The heart of Cala Romántica is its beach: a sandy inlet, calm in settled weather, with a handful of cafés, restaurants and shops for the season close by. A coastal path picks its way along the low cliffs to neighbouring coves, and the caves and harbour of Porto Cristo are only a short drive north.

A quieter kind of coast

This is a place for people who want the sea and the pines without the bustle of a big resort. It is busiest in summer and calm the rest of the year, and everyday shopping and services are a few minutes away in Porto Cristo, with Manacor a little further inland.

Property

Homes are mostly villas, semi-detached houses and apartments, many built to make the most of the slope and the sea light. Newer developments appear here from time to time as well; where a home is a new build, we set out clearly what is finished, what is planned and what still depends on the developer’s own schedule.
